You got a nice catch. What species of tuna are they?

Around how much do they weigh?

What do you catch them on?

Heading to Eureka Ca now for 2 days of fishing, doubt the tuna water is close enough for us. Rock and big lings are in trouble.
6 of us go every year this weekend.

These are albacore, they are out a ways right now. When we headed back to port we where 70 miles out, the warm water was moving back in, I think you could catch them 30 miles offshore today. We trolled lures for these, they weigh around 20-25 pounds each I’m guessing, some might be a bit bigger. They fight hard !

I've had canned albacore before. I bet the fresh is many times better. The lack of actual fresh seafood and citrus are some of the biggest drawbacks about living in Ohio.

Home canned albacore is THE best canned tuna out there. Store bought factory stuff does not come close.

Yep a lot of this will be in jars tomorrow. Some smoked like Alaskan candied salmon. Great eating. Hoping to get another trip in soon.

When I lived on the coast, I would can 50-75 pints of yellowfin every year. Gave a bunch to friends and family.

Pack pint jars with fresh tuna, don't add anything else, then pressure can at 11lbs for 100 minutes.

When opening a jar, there will be a few teaspoons or oil on top of the liquid. I always poured the juice over my dog's dry food. She loved it.

Don't have access to fresh tuna any longer. I moved away and my friend sold his fish markets.
