What were your original intentions? Did you put the castor in green or dried it first?

What were you trying to do or expected to happen? Too many variables to give you a reply. Glycerin is not a solvent it is a popular antifreeze and used in some lures as a thickener. It has no odor enhancing properties.

john the simpilist way to put up your castor would be to hang them on a wire so that the castor doesnt touch it just hangs freely and let it dry for a couple weeks the first few days keep an eye out for flys that will want to land on them i sometimes place a fan on them the fist day to help reduce the moisture after a couple weeks i take them off the wire and cut them up with a sharp knife and place them in a clean container i then cover with glycerin and let soak to soften for 2 weeks then drain off the glycerin and set aside grind the castors twice adding the scented glycerin to achive the disired consistency if your grinder still has it lumpy at this point you could run the mix through a processor then add some sodium benzoate and some methyl parabin to stabilize and halt any mold growth
there is another method i use that involves red wine but that method takes up to a year to reach sweetness level

first i age the castors not to turn them into leather but seasoned well then i place them in a clean mason jar and cover with a sweet red wine i use a harvest type wine thats only around in the fall cant remember the name its back in the barn
i use qt jars and keep a couple inches from the top to that mix i add 2 shots of good moonshine i get from a friend upstate but i have used pure grain alcohol once its added i give it a good shake then store in a dark area for one year shake it every so often after a year i run the castors thru the grinder twice and add glycerin for consistency and freeze proofing say you have half a qt of marinade left i fill the rest of the qt with glycerin and shake well and just the liquid is awsum by itself and can be used in formulas but when you finish grinding the castors you have something special just get your nose over it and you will understand what im talking about no beaver will pass it up but it also shines for red fox in the summer nuisance work
the wine i use is woodbridge fall spiced harvest red wine
take care

When I supplied Dave Edwards, Buffalo Creek Lures, with castor before I ground them he'd have me soak them in Burgandy wine for 6 months after I dried them. He said it fired them up.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
