Use WAY more Sudafed than what is recommended. I sometimes take four with a half of Benadryl if I’m really clogged up.

Ask for the Sudafed that is kept behind the counter. Druggies steal it if they put it out on the shelf. The stuff on the shelf cannot be processed to make into meth, but it does not work as good as the Sudafed behind the counter.

Just went through the exact same thing for about a month, finally broke down and got antibiotics which I don’t like to do. Felt 90 percent better in 2 days. I’d tried pretty much all home remedies. Sleepy time sinus soother tea helped at night, NyQuil.

A lot of what you're feeling is likely sinus inflammation. If you're blowing and blowing and nothing's coming out despite feeling more and more clogged, your sinuses are likely inflamed, and blowing more just inflamed then more, so five the blowing a rest.

Otherwise.....all the stuff that'll normally make your nose run. Hot showers, spicy peppers, horseradish, and hard work. For real, exerting yourself physically and buildi g up a sweat and high heart rate will clear it up for a while, if you're able.

Used to use the behind the counter Sudafed, the pharmacist suggested 24 hr Loratadine 10mg tablets ... Really dries things up in a couple of hours no runny nose, mucus in the back of your throat and helps unplug ears.

Available over the counter

this from Walgreens.

For the sore throat ... combination of honey, lemon, eucalyptus, and/or elderberry as a hot tea or cough drops.

Make sure to continue use of all your antibiotics no matter how well you feel.

I struggle with sinus issues every time I get a cold. Had multiple CT Scans to try to figure it out. Narrow nasal passages or something.

Had several Docs tell me FLONASE or the generic equivalent almost every morning.

are you wearing ear plugs a lot on the boat?
ear buds count as ear plugs , my 2 kids in MKE both had ear infections this summer , the heat and listening to all their music through ear buds all the time.

did you go for a swim in the river?

A couple of teaspoons of GOOD Horseradish will get ya cleared up :-) . . . PS, old time remedy for ear infections was blowing hot smoke from a tobacco pipe into the ears laugh

The standard protocol for ENT infections calls for amoxyclav and they've been prescribing it indiscriminately for everything , as a preventative measure, so it's lost pretty much all efficiency in the last decade or so. 5 days of antibiotic nowadays is rarely enough to even suppress a persistent nose/ear infection so if you keep getting thick yellow/green discharge after antibiotics, it's not good. Don't wait if you get a heavy feeling in the sinuses (between the eyebrows or to the sides of the nose), even if you don't have a fever, pester your doctor to get a good x-ray or CT of your sinuses to make sure there's no blockage. When I had a bad sinus infection, they didn't do the x-ray properly and missed a blocked sinus and now I have an extra penny-sized hole in my skull, because they had to chisel through my upper jaw to drain the rotting sinus.

Also start taking ACC (acetylcysteine), I don't know if you can buy it over the counter over there, but it's really good stuff for nasty ENT infections because it's not even a drug, just an amino acid, but it thins down thick mucus effectively. It also protects the kidneys which is good when you take antibiotics, and improves many other things (it's used to treat male infertility, for instance).

Flushing with saline is a good idea but it's best to use sterile hypertonic solution spray, because you don't want to add extra strains of bacteria to the inflamed nasal cavity.

Horse radish or strong mustard is actually a very good suggestion, as long as drainage is adequate.
