Working on food plots in MO last minute rush to get things planted forgot my work boots. I was the buffet this weekend chiggers and the tiniest ticks I’ve ever seen small freckle size beasts. We got her done in 3 days then it rained a bit probably not enough to kick things off yet.

Chiggers are the worst, and only things that ( bug wise ) bite me.
Their bites itch for days.

Those chiggers and ticks both literally and figuratively suck. I only got into chiggers once this year and haven't gone back there to get more. Ticks were worse than normal here early and virtually nonexistent for months now.

The tiny woods mosquitoes were terrible and are now just barely around.

Deer flies were fortunately sparse this year.

Stable flies were bad early on, but less common now.

Horse flies are sparse, but have got me twice recently.

That looks uncomfortable. Chiggers never bothered me for some reason. I would go through the same places dad did. He would have the chigger bites, and I had none. I must taste too nasty - lol

Did you smoke Paul? When I would hunt with friends who used tobacco, they always got less bites than I did.

Be thankful for the small things, lol.

I remember reading about in a concentration camp where one group of women, which was a mix of Jewish and Christians, all had fleas. But their building was the only one. The women had a secret bible study and when they came across the verse that said to be thankful for all things, they found it hard to comprehend. How could they be thankful for fleas? It wasn't until later they found out that their building was the only one where the women weren't being molested by the guards. The reason being the fleas !

That time for chiggers and seed ticks... hate them both. Spray doesn't seem to work well for me on seed ticks.

We had ticks in the yard this spring more so than normal. I spread some granules and haven’t seen one in months since May.

I also wear long pants, calf high socks and work boots when going g to the farm. They have been treated with Permithin (sp?) several times. Knock on wood, haven’t picked off a single tick this year.

Must be all the possum.

We have them in our yard big time. I spray the areas we generally use with Cutter's hose end spray which seems to keep them in check for a while. When we get bites we use Equate roll-on Pain Relief Cream 4% Lidocaine Topical Analgesic from Walmart. It is found in the same area as other pain relief applications. It does relieve a lot of the itching and seems to make them go away a little faster.

Keep in mind they could very well be in your bedding as well. We had to do a laundry last night because of all the bites we got while working outside in one of the "Non-safe zones" I figured with the cooler weather they may have moved on but that was not the case.

Good luck! Mosquito bites don't even bother me or swell up but chigger bites can drive me nuts.
