My 2 young sons are eager to get out on the trap line with me this fall and I would like to get them each their own trapping baskets. I’m not sure what would be the best size to invest in for them. I don’t want it to be too small that they grow out of the pack in a year but also want it to be a manageable size for them

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for sizes for a kids/youth trap basket?

Three or five gallon bucket that’s all I ever use and that’s what dad gave me 55 years ago

Those are also some options. Definitely would be a cheaper route than a trapping basket

Used and donated regular school backpack. Lost and found at school is full of them. Usually plenty at the local donation center if you have one nearby. Add a bucket and a trapping stick and they are in business!

How old are they? I only ask because i made a couple when The Boy was young and he and his buddy tagged along. Made em from cheap waste paper baskets and one set of suspenders was enough for both packs. Cost was around 15 bucks for two little packs.

How old/what size kiddos?

Bathroom sized garbage can shoved in a reg school backpack would work for tagging along and helping carry some gear or a rat or 2.

I ran an Army stuff bag with a trash can in it for a few years.

Bigger kids, get em regular Fiber Tuffs, kinda pricey, maybe as a Bday/early Christmas or doing good in school reward. They'll last forever, can take a tumble and a roll and if they don't like it after a while, sell em and make most of your money back.

The kids are 4 and 6 years old. I’m going to look into making them one from a cheap garbage can. They have got stacks of walking sticks in our garage. We cannot go to the woods without bring a few home

My wife bought me a FiberTuff basket for Christmas last year……..worth every penny. I wish I had one years ago
