The question is, have there been more longspring or coilspring traps built in the last 400 years? And why do you think so? We know longsprings got a couple hundred year or so jump on coils. What are you thoughts?

Tough question. They are still making long springs and trappers are still using them. But now days with better manufacturing they can put more traps of both out than before much faster.

Any time I see traps listed for sale its always more coilsprings. Could be anyone's guess, I wouldn't have a clue.

I don't know the answer but there has been some really big mass production in factories going on with the coilsprings since the 70's. If you include DP's in the last couple decades, that's a lot of traps. But, like you said longsprings had a big head start.
