Recently i was asked by a friend to take a look at what he had goin on inpart of the back storage area of a restaurant he had been workin at i could see right away the problem that they had was rats getting into the food supplys so i agreed to set up a few small cages
the first nite i picked up two right away so after resetting them i inspected the perimeter of the building and could see where the rats were getting in from so i packed the holes with metal scrubbing pads then filled them with high density foam so as time went on
i managed to pick up 4 more rats using conventional snap traps but after a months time the traps stayed empty and i could see in the flour dust that there was still one rat left on the inside of the building so this is when things went a little crazy for me
i tried all kinds of different baits but the rat would walk around each set and just not work any of them one month quickly turned to three with still no luck tried body grippers snap traps and cages even high quality poisons but still no luck sifted flour over a square jaw victor 2 but this rat was having none of it tried using the flour shredded paper even buckwheat hulls but couldnt get the trap to sit flush without making it look like a mound so finally after four months of chasing this rat
i came up with taking to strips of wood as thick as from the bottom of the base plate to the top of the trap pan then i stapled cardboard to the strips and placed two number 2 victors on top of the card board to trace the outlines once the cutouts were removed the set traps sat perfectly flush with the card board then just used the cut outs as pan covers bringing everything up and level i used scent away spray to spray down the cardboard before dusting it all with flour to blend it all in
i decided to make a blind set splitting the two stacks of flour
in my life i have been lucky enough to catch many triples on my canine lines over the years but i have to say as goofy as it sounds catching that last rat was one of the most gratifying things that i have ever acomplished trapping that animal humbled me and gave me one heck of a run [Linked Image]

That effort was tenacious! Way to go and not give up. You might just be part Alaskan with the No Quit Attitude! Nice job! That's a nice looking rat too.

Sweet. I'll tuck that trick into my rat bag. Rats are hard enough without having one with a PhD.
