It's cold enough here today but the crops are not looking like it, but that's when we normally get a freeze and kill stuff early and it makes a mess of things.

Seems a little cooler here too. Was a pretty pleasant summer. Pretty common for July and August to be miserably hot. Had a few hot days but not many.

It’s been a strange summer here in Pa. Monsoon rains in June/ early July. Then many weeks without a drop of rain, along with 90 degree heat. Now, we’re having below average temperatures. Leaves are dying, falling off the trees. Corn, it dried up, stalks turning yellow. Way too early to see field corn look like that.

I just came back from some time in the Brooks Range and while the leaves have nearly all turned, it was weirdly warm. Normally by the end of August we’ll be getting some frost, but when I flew out this trip it was warm enough that I didn’t even need a hoodie. It’s strangely warm at my house in south-central Alaska too. It was nearly 70 degrees yesterday.

Judging by the leaves, it might be a late, but sharp winter here.

The weather has been wonderful here for the last few weeks. Mostly low seventy and upper sixty highs and fifty to upper forty lows at night. It's just been much to dry. Where I water, I get literal hundreds of butterflies coming in to drink.

Hot humid summer wet then dry but it was hot the grass died off but rains green it up at times. The last week it’s been put the heat on at night then the A/C on during the day. A few skunk calls so it feels like fall is here.

We're having a very hot summer. Still in the upper 80's and into the 90's. Recently skirted with 100F which was tough on our blueberries.

How tough is the weather on your "little brown machines" as you call them?

Amazing what difference a couple hundred miles makes. It has been a very cool summer here. Had to build a fire in the stove several nights in August. Tonight, the same.
The bandtailed pidgeons are flocking up to go south but before they do, they are filling up on cascara berries. Been flocks of a couple hundred around the house for the last few days, the biggest flocks I have seen in quite a few years. For me that is the first sign of Fall.

It's been cooler than normal here also.
Got used to very little snow last few years.
Looks like more snow this winter.

We seem to be tracking with a typical wind down of summer. Can usually tell how winter will be around the end of October. Either a cold snap or prolonged wet storm cycles show up.

Used to be able to tell just how much snow and how cold it'll be by the size of the muskrat houses.
Invasive plants have destroyed the muskrat population, the grass taking over the pond edges and lakes don't have enough food in them .
Cattails used to provide everything muskrats needed to survive.
This invasive plant has destroyed the ecosystem.

We call it fake fall down here. Cloudy and rainy this morning, highs in the 70's. Next Saturday the forecast is calling for high's in the low to mid 90's. Summer hangs on a long time down here but overall it has been a mild summer compared to most.

I showed 33 for the low last night and they are showing about the same tonight. I am hoping my tomatoes don't freeze. I picked the first one on 9/1. It would make for a short season if they freeze. It shows it warming back up after tomorrow. Pretty normal for here. Freezes my tomatoes and warms up for a month.

Woke up early and took the dog out. A really nice, calm 43 degrees out and man I love this time of year.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
