Some of us don't want the government screwing with our guns, money, land, bodies, religion or autonomy in general. We also don't meddle in the lives of others. We believe freedom is inherently good.

If I choose to be vaccinated because of reliable science and because I'm not stupid, it's my choice. Same if I don't.

I worry about TB cause its getting more common. Like the covid shot its not very effective and has side effects.

While rabies is 100% fatal, it is not transmitted readily as I explained. It is only transmitted by actively rabid animal in the saliva from their bite. The rabies vaccine for domestic animals, when implemented correctly nearly 100% eliminates rabies transmission from domestics. I know of no domestic animal that was correctly vaccinated that was able to acquire rabies and transmit it to a human. Maybe it has happened and I am not aware of it. The rabies vaccine is for those who may come in direct contact with possible rabid animals. Usually bat guys are the ones at greatest risk and I would definitely strongly recommend they get vaccinated for themselves. But unless that person becomes rabid and bites me directly, I cannot get the rabies virus. Very, very, very low transmissibility from person to person. I have never heard of a rabies epidemic in humans. Again, I may be wrong.

Histo is a fungal disease of the lungs acquired when someone comes in contact with the mycotoxin and spores from Histoplasma capsulatum. Again, without getting into specifics, you have to be directly exposed to this fungus and it cannot be transmitted from person to person. If someone is in the vicinity of histo or works where they could be exposed to histo, then a strong recommendation could be made for that person to be vaccinated. I know of no histo epidemic in humans. Again, I may be wrong.

But it’s not just about the money. It’s an example of requiring something that in the vast majority of cases isn’t needed.

Back in earlier days, most domestics ran free. Sometimes in the woods they may have been exposed to a rabid animal. Hence the domestics were the link of rabies getting to humans as getting exposed to raccoons and fox and bats was rare. Petting fido or fluffy at the end of the day on the porch would be a common practice that had a higher possibility of transmission. Distemper and rabies look very similar and some people were exposed due to this and came down with "the Phobie".

Vaccinating domestics almost 100% completely eliminated the link of human transmission except from hunters and trappers who were exposed to these animal by choice.

We still have rabies clinics around here for $5/vaccination for 1 year shots. Then you can watch your vet and every now and again they will have in-house rabies vaccination sales.

Either way, it's dirt cheap as opposed to the alternative.

My dogs have always hunted and got rabies vaccine. It used to be cheap you could get it mail order. The vet assoc has successfully lobbied to end that along with antibiotics. Now what used to cost a buck or two starts as 50 bucks for the office call.

for people who could not afford health care. They then fined people who didn’t have it because they couldn’t afford Obozo Care!

Well, when people would get them in the mail and set them on the counter for a week of put them on the dash of their truck, they rendered the shot useless. It has to be refrigerated at all times before use.

I agree rabies vaccine is a great thing and should be required. Just not every year for a dogs life when vaccination and boosted the next year gives life long protection.
