Let's say your neighbor chooses not to vaccinate their child for MMR. You also choose to not vaccinate your child for fear of the vaccination ingredients. Your neighbor goes to third world and the kid comes back with measles and has been on the bus with your kid for a week. Your kid gets measles and is in bad shape and out of school for weeks.

If Americans should be able to do what ever they want regardless of the safety concerns for fellow citizens, should all vaccinations be optional?

I do think there are several vaccinations that are anywhere from unnecessary to ridiculous. But vaccinations such as polio are rather serious.

What say you freedom lovers?

There are many actual vaccines that have been effective for decades. They should be mandatory. Others that have not stood the test of time should be optional.

If the vaccine works and you are vaccinated why worry if the next guy is or isn't vaccinated. Recommended yes, mandated no. This would place great faith in the parents ability to make the proper decision regarding their child. The same faith that is placed with .gov at the present.

I'm waiting on the "legal drugs" fanatics to chime in.

I am guessing it will be crickets instead.

People aren't forced to take vaccines

My daughter-in-law is a pediatrician. A mom just told her she didn't want her child to receive a tetanus shot. In her next breath, she asked, "what is tetanus"?

Could it be vaccines are not 100% and vaccinating everyone helps build herd immunity just as an extra precaution ?

For people my age there was no MMR vaccine. Most people got those three childhood diseases and developed a natural immunity. I knew one guy who got mumps in high school that moved down on him. He survived but was unable to procreate.

I’m old enough to have only received a polio vaccine. All the other viruses that they immunize for today , I ended up catching. Measles, Chicken Pox, Mumps…. It was no fun, got extremely ill with measles, almost killed me. Parents are making a big mistake not getting their kids immunized.

And there are some among us who can’t receive immunizations. Those who haven’t been vaccinated by choice are putting those folks at risk.

Sounds good to me. Freedom is messy. If you don't want measles, you're free to vaccinate, just like I'm free to not vaccinate. That's your choice for you and your kids. I'm not going to tell you what you have to put into your own body.

BTW, I have all my vaccines as so my children, except for the covid shot and the one for HPV (gardisil, maybe?.)

If you and your children have all your shots, or some, or none, good for you. It's ain't my business.

If my theoretical unvaccinated kid gets sick from your theoretical unvaccinated kid, then I guess too bad, so sad for me. Can't have freedom without the consequences that goes with it. But I'll choose freedom over tyranny every day of the week.

In our supposed free country, we all have consequence's upon our decisions of what we wish and what we don't !

Some are very clear ones, others more umm camouflaged, if one chooses to do an immunity shot, and then complains about symptoms they should not be blaming the shot, there is always a percentage that will get whatever with immunity shots !

If you choose to not have have immunity shots and then later on gets the virus of what ever, they can't hold any one responsible but them selves for catching it, when you have had the chance to receive it !

Seems pretty simple to me, until you get into forced compliance, then it's more debatable for the reason of the need for a
forced need, if you are not allowed to make the decision and are forced to take it regardless of the need, thats not freedom any longer !!

While that's true, there have been and are some pretty strict consequences of choosing not to... i.e. not being able to enroll kids in school, getting fired from jobs, not being able to fly, etc.

Here you can’t pick measles mumps or rubella vaccine for your kids. All 3 are in one shot, mmr. That seems ridiculous to me.

Y30, those consequences are just short of forced taking in my view, wife and son were forced to take the Covid shot or lose their employment and the state we live in, Utah, was not under any mandatory direction, however the state did say it was up to employer's to dictate whether force or not, and a lot did decide to force, although to give a person a viable alternative they let them choose which one to take at that time, Mederna or Pfizer, they both chose Mederna and not like it is with out reproach it has not had as many problems as the Pfizer has !

They were also both working and still are working in school district jobs, and had a long service record, was difficult for them to
just walk away from and maybe not even given a chance back and lose the benefits they had worked for when they retire.

They now watch all of the Mederna reports for any problems, unfortunately a lot of problems don't show up for years after as they are finding out now on both of these shots !

I think the microchips the government put in the covid shots have moved down to my knee, it hurts and I can feel it grinding, lol !

Well think about this.

What happens when viruses are treated and are unable to perpetuate themselves? Now granted, measles virus is different that covid virus but can someone tell me what happens when a virus is allowed to perpetuate in a population en masse?
