Skunk from a couple days ago that I thawed out that a guy gave me he caught it the day after I went to MO. I was surprised to see this much fat already I had to dig out the pods even they were covered in the stuff.

Another sign of the coming winter maybe.

What a porker! I've been seeing signs of a coming hard winter too.

Lived on the edge of town no special feed source unless he was hitting the coop for eggs but you think the guy would of said something.

I think all the animals in this area are going look like that. We have a bumper crop of acorns. Animals will be ready for winter this year.

I just finished putting one up that looked similar. Dispatched earlier this afternoon. The two smaller ones from 2 weeks ago had almost nothing.

That’s a good idea. I’ve never taken those out of them before. Of course I only skimmed one once. Do they come out with your hands or do you have to cut them loose the whole time?

Trim them out on the bigger ones they don’t stink unless you squeeze them, cut them or poke them then it’s game on. Once you’ve done it enough times you know where to cut and what to look for when you do it.

You guys seem to have larger skunks in all aspects even in the size of the musk pods. I have cut some very large pods from skunks in Kansas over the years. However those are caught in Jan. and Feb. Our local Pa. skunks are dinks compared to your animals. Your's appear to have larger weiners also.

Caught a few in the 16 pound range not many places they get that big a buddy in MN did get one that big. It’s hard to catch many small ones even the medium size ones are hard to come by. Pods are huge here some hold 2+ ounces. I did get a smaller one yesterday nervous little bugger the proofed a bit and still was around an ounce.

The bigger pods add up for sweet skunk quickly but our numbers are slow coming back after a spring freeze out a couple of years ago. Past years 100-125 a season was common but that’s down now lots of down time between skunks now. None for about 6 weeks I leave town I get a call the next day then 2 more calls when I got back so 3 calls in the last week.
