I had an opportunity to swat a fly that just happened to land on the wife's rear end. After the swat the wife gave out with a little yelp and I commenced to laughing. After a few seconds the wife screamed "Stop" in a pretty serious way. I turned around to see young Emmett coming at me with his fist cocked back and yelling not to hit Mom, ready to do battle. I had to do some fast talking to get myself out of trouble. I'm pretty proud of that boy, willing to go to bat for his momma, even if it's against his own dad. Anyway, I got a kick out of it, thought maybe some of you would enjoy the story.

Congrats to the child let’s hope that sticks with him through life for all women.

Our 2 yr old Grandson is in the process of learning to not hit Mom and Dad in the face. He had a bad weekend.
Grandma wanted to step in and console him. I told her no, this is something Grandma needs to stay out of.

Thank you for the compliments folks. If we have a kid that tends to be problematic, it is young Emmett. But when it comes to people being treated wrong, he has a pretty good compass. I do believe he's on the way to becoming a good man.

My youngest boy had a penchant for throwing hands as a 3 year old.
I got tired of it one day when he was about to swing on me and asked him calmly, "Do you want some attention?"
He stopped dead in his tracks and looked me in the eye as though someone finally understood him. I then asked him if he wanted a hug.
With a big smile on his face, he ran up to me with his arms wide and I hugged him.
From that point on, whenever he felt that way, he'd just come in with his arms open waiting for his hug.
When a kid hits 2-3 years old, they know more that we give them credit for. They probably think that we are the stupid ones for not understanding them.

A classic movie theme is for s kid to hear Mom in the throes of passion behind a closed door, only to break in with a bat or pistol and shoot whoever is "Hurting" his Mom. Kinda good for him to be like that, but beware and nip it ion the bud.
