The majority of the ginseng here in my neck of the woods is burnt up( I made a prior post) and I was shocked to find this guy.

I’m hearing other states are having some serious drought issues as well.might be a short ginseng harvest this year

How much would the root from that single plant be worth?

Around how much would that root weigh?

Keith

Sometimes it varies… a 3 prong plant can have a root as big as your thumb or sometimes as tiny as your pinky toe. I’ve seen some HUGE roots that are over 6 ounces green weight…but my stuff I usually find are probably an ounce or so green weight.
You can sell ginseng green or dry… I prefer to dry it because I have more market options.
It takes roughly 3.5 pounds of green root to make 1 pound dried.

I think thats a patch right there and I found that looking for pawpaws Aug 8 and thats what it looked like. I haven't been back. Its in the woods and we have had plenty of rain this year. Only thing weird for us was these cold snaps in August when its normally hot as blazes. p.s. found my grove of paw paws and saw little to no fruit this year for some reason.

Was unusually cool for us here in atlantic canada as well. normally sweat rolling down my neck in july/august, but august felt more like september (warm with cool mornings)
