As far as responses go, I agree with WI Outdoors, none of this is surprising at all. This is what the Bible tells us that humans constantly do. Political ideologies become ultimate and we kill each other to protect them. The good news message of Jesus is that there is a higher political order called the Kingdom of Heaven, and that it operates on principles and means that are completely backwards and upside down compared to normal human orders, and that you can choose to live under the authority of God in His kingdom or to live under the authority of human kingdoms. One way of living leads to ultimate Death, the other to ultimate Life. Jesus did what he did because his ultimate authority was the Father in Heaven, not human schemes and human means. He centered his thoughts and actions on God's teaching and His will. We have a very hard time centering our lives around and building our lives on Jesus's teaching and will. It's complicated and difficult, but a lot of that has to do with our lifestyles and the things we spend our time doing. Spend your day watching Fox News, and you'll think like and become a Fox News person. Spend your time watching CNN, and you'll think like and become a CNN person. Spend your time with Jesus, and you'll think like and become a Jesus person.

Some of the other responses are a bit wild - theologically. No, Jesus was not a Liberal. Jesus's teaching, life, death, and resurrection put both Liberals and Conservatives to shame. If we're orthodox in our thinking, Jesus is God. How in the world can we say that we need God but don't need Jesus right now? That's some pretty serious cognitive dissonance! I can understand the desire to see God's judgement come upon evil in the world, but God's judgement will also come upon us for the same reasons! Careful what you wish for. Amos 5:18-20 sums it up nicely. If you read your Bible carefully, you'll see that God's judgement comes mostly through God letting people do what they want. When kingdoms become corrupt and violent, they fall apart through corruption and violence. If we're thinking in this way, then the corruption and political violence we're seeing in America right now might just be God's judgement on the corruption and violence of America. I certainly don't have the authority or fortitude to claim that this is what's happening, but I think it is certainly possible.

Speaking of cognitive dissonance, Foxkidd (and I mean this in kindness and respect, I'm not trying to disparage you. I admire your searching heart and desire to help you), in your post it seems like you're upset and distressed because it feels like we're headed toward civil war, but in your tag line, you're quoting from the civil war... My suggestion is that if you want to be like Jesus in these tumultuous times, be careful not to glorify political violence and work to glorify Him instead.

Ty!! A very well thought out and written response.
