Part of the problem is you don't hear much about when criminals are stopped by armed citizens because it doesn't fit the Media's is narrative, so it's not reported. I don't know if they still do it but NRA magazine used to publish these exact scenarios every month and could fill a couple pages with them.

Personally, I "praise the fact that I can carry concealed".
States which allow concealed carry have lower crime rates because the criminals know it and can't tell if you are an easy mark or not.
There are many cases where a mass murderer was stopped by a concealed carry citizen. Without those people, they would have had to dispatch many more ambulances or hearsts. (Sling blade reference for ya.)

Okay, Fudd.

Not if you see the bad guy first, you forget the head up and on a swivel part. I'm quite sure that I've deterred more than a few by seeing and letting them know that they are seen well in advance. But then again I can't be sure because they were probably hiding their guns.

My philosphy that I learned years ago working uniformed security in some pretty rough parts of town is be the hard target, carry yourself as the hard target and trouble tends to pick an easier target. But you go ahead with your mouse impression.

And thats why so many cops get killed with their own guns. Even with double retention holsters.

Heres the thing, crime is everywhere, australia and the UK have a very strict gun policy yet people get stabbed and killed every year, noone makes a big deal about it. When you are the greatest xountry in the world people hate that and will say they have to many issues. If guns were a problem you would know. Look up the number of guns vs population. I do carry a gun everyday i can, not because im scared of a mass shooter or getting killed. I carry a gun because it can save a life or multiple if needed.

No, cops get killed because they have to go hands on. We civilians are under zero obligation to go hands on and walking away is a perfectly good option.

I think any reasonable tactician would agree that distance is always your best asset and seeing trouble while at distance is the best way to avoid it.

Open or concealed matters not, or totally unarmed for that matter, if you can avoid trouble.

I would agree that hanging iron out in the open and walking around with blinders on is a recipe for disaster but it also is even if you hide the iron.

I'm reminded of the first rule of gun safety mechanisms is the the first safety is between the ears.
