Pluck the pin bones that protrude from the fish after it’s cooked. Might not work very well if the fish is battered, I suppose. We grill most of our fish and the row of pin bones stack up maybe 1/8” and are relatively east to grab. My preferred method, rather than hacking them out prior to cooking.
Option two would be to chew slowly and find them before they go down the hatch, LOL.

I serve the rear half of the salmon to folks who don't know how to avoid pin bones; no pin bones in the back half.

That’s the best tasting fish on the planet. I wouldn’t waste one scrap of it. We fry it in course cornmeal in the skillet. I don’t get any better than that. I have a hard time chewing it slowly because it’s so good thanks for the replies.

Like waggler said. I eat the rear half. My wife eats the front half. When she is done she spits out an owl pellet of fish bones. But she is Filipino and they are born with it.

King and fall steelhead are so good. Around Thanksgiving I start to crave fresh king. Literally I can feel the satisfaction from my body after consuming a chunk of it.

The piece from the vent back is 100% safe from any bones. We would have that as the piece for the smallest child. There is more fat towards the front of the fish. Chewing is good. No need to eat something so wonderful like a dog.

I give the fillets away, but keep a generous portion of the belly for myself. Fry in butter, sal and pepper, and eat skin and all.
