Caught a few of these guys today . Mangrove snapper apparently. Apparently they like cut pin fish on the bottom

Well him and his buddies are sitting in a Ziploc bag so

I caught a lot of those in a stream behind my uncle's beach house in Myrtle Beach. They were good to eat. Are you going to cook them up?

Well cap is , he's crazy about flounder and snapper apparently blackened they're amazing eating..know her about ran down stairs after I told him to poke his head out the wheelhouse and showed him ... I don't know much about these things so didn't know if it was big enough or what ....
Now if I can catch one of these fancy redfish

I have heard blackened snapper is good, but have never had it. I think you will like it. Most of the snapper I caught were fairly small. My mom fried some and baked some. They were good both ways.

The same stream had lots of clams and blue crabs, that I caught and ate too. There may be some in the same area you are.

There were lots of needlefish too. I could get them to bite and stay on for a little bit, but could never land one. They were thin, long and almost transparent. Their mouths were full of teeth.

I seined killfish and used them as bait. It's been over 34 years ago.

Funny you mention needle fish . At least two always show up when we turn the deck lights on and your right never able to actually land the little guys

I wonder if you could catch the needlefish with frayed rope, like people do gar?

I'm hoping to catch some of the species I never caught before. I started fishing Big Darby Creek, which has 85 species of fish. It has the most endangered species of any river in Ohio. I fished it yesterday for the first time and found a decent spot, I'm going back to.

I had to look up needlefish. Turns out, there's several accounts of folks having been severely injured or even killed by being impaled .

If they're the same thing we called billed eels, (not an eel) they smell funny....

Around here we have blackened drum, it's a close cousin to the red fish, and is excellent table fare.
