I think it’s been a while since this debate has surfaced.

Has anyone found the best super stake driver known to man? The case hardened ones from the supply store are insufficient for where I trap.

Best one I’ve had is the Carlis Stephens sliding handle one. Whatever steel he used for that has held up amazingly well. 2nd place would be an older style Tom Stalker model. 3rd place is the last Stalker model I got a couple years ago, to my surprise it had a “dog knot” reinforcement weld bulge around the tip which makes the driver itself harder to drive and pull out once stake is driven. I ground it down but it still annoys me.

Go to a machine shop and have them make you one out of brake die steel. They will know what your talking about and is common in most shops. Pre hard steel but soft enough to machine and will not chip from hammering on.

There's one made by Hammer, lady slipper works very well. Much better than you get at trapping retail places they bend too easily

I’ve tried them all even the one made by Carlis. All failed or broke. kslongliner turned me onto the Estwing rolling head pry bar 20”, so far so good. I got around 3 months straight trapping with it with no problems. I’d post a link, but not sure how. Can get them on Amazon around $45 bucks. Supposed to wear eye protection with them in case they shatter. Very hard steel

... along those same lines. I think it would be cheap enough to see how it would work with the top being cut off and a big nut welded to the top. It may not work at all but you're only out 10 bucks really.... https://www.harborfreight.com/24-inch-alignment-pry-bar-92691.html
