I stepped on a ground bee nest yesterday at the land. 'Got stung ~6 times. Today a couple bears (per my trail cam) walked right up to the ground bee nest & appeared to play around w/ it for some time. It was odd.

Youd have to think they were something special for such a small meal.

I hate wasps/hornets.

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

Yep, skunks will wipe out a big hive in no time.

Years ago I had a hive under a cut bank next to my pond. One morning I went down there and there were hundreds of dead bees, floating on the water along with a bunch of chunks of honeycomb. Whatever destroyed that nest would’ve had to been in the water to get at it I never did figure out what it was, but I suspect maybe a raccoon?

Eh...wot?

Could have still been a skunk, I had a pocket set on a small spring pond and the landowner mowed right to the bank, I caught a skunk, bobcat and a bear dug it out from the top. Don’t remember what I used for bait, probably muskrat.

Yep, saw this here. About a week later got hit by yellow jackets in my bee yard. 2 days later there was a small hole dug and comb on the ground where the yellow jackets were and I had a skunk in a tire set not 15 feet away. Can't proove it was the skunk that dug up the yellow jackets but always assumed it did.

Skunks will tear into a ground bee's hive, I believe.
