I like to get bags of frozen berries and have them with waffles .
Yes you’re right fresh fruit can be very inconsistent. And as much as I love shopping at Aldi, I think they get discount stuff that may go bad very quickly, so if you don’t use it in 1-2 days it’s gonna spoil on ya

I recommend planting some pear trees. I bought mine at the end of season for $1.67 each at Rural King. The Bartletts had pears the next year.

We have more canned pears than we will ever get through because we get more before we can put a dent in them. Pears are very easy to grow. At least around here, the only substantial insect pests are yellow jackets and bald faced hornets, which are easy to completely exterminate, with the recipe I learned on Trapperman. I get over 800 pounds off of just 3 Bartlett pear trees some years and probably never less than 300 pounds. The two Summer pear trees will put out as high as 150 pounds and as as low as 50 some.

Fresh fruit is the best. Here are just a few bags of black/golden Currant. I pick wild plums and eat a couple handfuls everyday.

Snowy, how are your wild plums?, really tart?

We have wild beach plums here on the outer beach, they grow in pure sand. Tart as a mother in laws tongue but make the best jelly.....

No tartness a great sweet taste and can't stop wanting to eat them. The wild plum are in the bottom ground and rich soil and get pretty good sub moisture from the crick that runs near them.

So many plum bushes here have been destroyed over the years.

If you are worried about the sugar amount, don't. Pears are full of sugar, no need to add any.

Stevia and Allouse are natural sweeteners that are zero calories also if you want to sweeten fruits, cereal and drinks.

I've always been partial to canned Apricots.
