That's gotta be trying as a Compassionate person... I know humane euthanasia is better than a neighbor poisoning him or something else. It’s just the situation. And it’s hard for techs to worry about dealing with a dangerous dog.. Then there’s the whole quarantine time for dogs who have bitten anyone regardless of rabies status. People want it done asap like they do everything else and then we have to wait. Just a pain

Gotta be something wrong with a person that enjoys killing a dog.

Even worse is the pet dumpers.
Some individuals use statistics as a drunk man uses lamp-posts — for support rather than for illumination.

When the pandemic was going and non pet folks adopted dogs out of boredom I knew dark days were ahead of us.

The downfall of all breeds of all species, is breeding for a particular appearance. Some dogs that were once great hunting dogs are now so stupid they can't find home. I'm not surprised behavioral issues are more common as well. My wife has a golden doodle the thing is a train wreck in many ways first mistake was getting it at 10 months I like to mold a dog to my needs just a travel buddy but it needs to listen for its own safety. 2 dogs 2 different personalities.

Ashley, one of the best people I've ever seen with savvy in dog behavior, besides guys in the military and police, who train their dogs to be spot on communicators, is Cesar Millan. The dog whisperer.
He has trained people how to understand and relate their energy to animals , mainly dogs, for decades. He always says that negative dog behavior is directly connected to the owners , that affect dogs by their energy and attitudes that animals feel and reflect.
Along with the other comments here , breeding, etc., I add , definitely, the people don't understand this very real, fundamental truth .
Working with horses for decades, there isn't one person that doesn't know that their body language and stress levels directly are felt by horses , and they respond accordingly. Every time.
Dogs are the same.
Every time I've seen videos of Cesar, he says he trains the people , and rehabs their dogs from them.
One of the best cases, I think of, is Commander. The gorgeous , well-bred German Shepard that angry, dysfunctional Biden had. Who bit so many of his Secret Service men, and others, he had to take the dog away from the White House.
I knew right then, with Biden's emotional state of chaos and anger, cussing out others so often , that Commander felt all that dysfunction and anger , and reacted accordingly.
Commander was a beauty of a dog. There was nothing wrong with his thinking or breeding. I felt so bad for that dog, who only was reflecting his hateful, angry owner's attitude , and reacted in the only way he thought he should , with aggression. The videos I saw of the dog, Biden, and other men in the area, the dog's and people's eye and body language said it all .
I hoped that Commander was given to someone else who's healthy , non-angry, non- dysfunction could make him into a great dog as his bloodline intended.
Along with bad breeding, inept knowledge of the breed they have , and their own attitude passed onto their dog, is very likely the reason you're seeing such a surge of problems.

Owning a dog is a commitment. I think a lot of people just get tired of them. Those are the animals that get dumped. Like Drifter, something I abhor.

I will admit, my dog has it better than most people. Dude gets a special breakfast of eggs and bacon most days during the week.
He will out run most though and is decent at going and getting dead birds and bringing them back.

Yep. People get a dog for "protection". Dog don't know who needs bit and who don't. A house dog that will bark when someone shows up or the tornado siren goes off at 3 A.M. is an asset. It's your job to protect your kids and wife. Dog alarm is useful. To easy to kill a dog anyway. Yes a bark will scare off some but myself I don't want sued cause my dog attacked a kid riding his bicycle or a Jehovah witness.
