what would the employment entail? You mean you'd take what I make, sell it as your own and maybe give a fraction the money back to me? laugh I was born a commie remember and have only worked for the state for minimum wage, I have a very vague idea of how capitalism works.

There must be somewhere or somehow you can market your beautiful artwork and talent over here. As said before, people would pay hundreds if not thousands of US dollars for some of your work.
All of us here admire it and know its value, beauty, attention to detail, and relevance to the situation... so it resonates with us. Not only do we love the beautiful artwork, but also because one can easily tell that the artist saw those scenes in real life just doing their day to day stuff. The artist was a woodsman/woman. Similar to why outdoorsman and trappers like Tom Mansanarez' work. Most of us here are broke trappers and could never afford what that artwork is really worth; but we certainly appreciate it.

Tatiana, most of Chuck's art is mass produced by him and sold into the market via a middleman, who makes a hefty sum from the works. Then the stores who buy from the middleman take their cut which is pretty high too. That's kind of how capitalism works.

I have no doubt that Chuck would be an honest and generous person to work with.

I have never seen or will ever see most of those things, such as sea otters smile they are just a way for me to get them out of my head and let them go forever, before I accidentally die under a freight train laugh

It's not about Russia, it's a new protectionist law that came into effect on August, 29. Look up "de minimis exemption" and all the rage in the media. You can also look up how much an H1B work visa costs now, starting literally today laugh

Tatiana, to date, I have never hired an employee, or even offered work to anyone. I recognize a natural ability in your work and believe you would be capable of maintaining my own high standards of quality in the work I sell. I would never claim another persons work as my own under any circumstance. I do have standard patterns that I produce repeatedly. That way I can increase my production levels without trying to come up with new designs for every piece that I carve. Custom orders are another thing entirely and prices go up exponentially! Here are a couple of my standard patterns in antler.[Linked Image]

With all due respect 114, I think Tatiana's artwork is better. Every creation is her unique interpretation of that centerpiece...her art gives "life" to her subjects. No cookie-cutter designs, no patterns, no 2 alike.

It is amazing what she does with the limited resources available to her.

She is a true artist.

LOL, what you see there is not art, what you see there is production, commercial quality work. Ive made my living carving for 45 years. Here is a taste of technical excellence. Not art exactly, but an example. My customer work is on another level.[Linked Image]

i am not an artist and I have never made a ruble cent selling any of my "crafts" because by our local standards they are amateur level trash compared to what people actually buy. All I wanted was to share little versions of animals that I'd like to whack with a big stick someday and skin or eat, that I make sometimes to be less sad, because there are people on here who also like to catch animals.

but this is now a scary serious grown-up thread about buying, money, mass-production and and technical excellnce and work immigration and life advice even a pi who's better contest. It makes me want to hide and die eek

I'll leave you guys enjoy yourselves here smile
