I'm due for a new watch as my old one is slowly disintegrating, and I decided I would go big and get a GPS one. At first I figured I'd just get a cheap Amazon one, but then I thought better of it and now I'm thinking about getting a used refurbished Garmin Instinct 2. Obviously the Garmin would be better than any generic Amazon brand, but they're just so expensive and I was hoping I could get something for under a hundred bucks, but then I saw the Instinct 2 on Ebay for 180 and well, it looks pretty nice but I was wondering if anybody knows anything about it, like if you need to pay for offline maps, or is the GPS free, etc. Any information about the Instinct 2 would be appreciated grin

Thanks,

Zach

For navigation purposes... Offline topo maps, TracBack, GPS. I wanted something that I could use when I don't have a phone with me or if there's no reception to use the phone. Yeah, my sister and I share a cell phone.

I have the garmin instinct 2. Its ok, I have had to send mine back 3x because of the heart rate monitor not working. I also am not a fan of it sending constant signal into my wrist, by both the heart rate monitor, which you can turn off, but also its sending bluetooth signal trying to connect to my phone, you cant turn off. I cant say that i have ever used the gps to mark a coordinate but its nice to track a route. Honestly the only reason I bought it was because it communicates with my dogs collar, and when we hunt it points to him and tells me how far his is from me. If it wasnt for the dog tracking I would just wear a regular old watch.

Cool, thanks for the info! Huh, that's kinda weird you can't turn off the bluetooth thing. Thanks again!

A watch is for telling time. If you want gps ability get an inReach. I have a garmin watch. Hard enough to just use it to tell time.

Don't you need a subscription to use the inReach though?

I used mine for hunting elk and going cross country back and forth to my hunting spots. It has a compass, heart rate monitor, sunrise/sunset, days of power, it marks routes tells distances, has clock faces you can change up.

Pick the style you want then go to YouTube and see if it’s what you need.

Yeah...I don't care for the subscription... That would slowly eat away at my truck money eek
But I don't think the Instinct needs a subscription, it just comes with the stuff already on it, right?
