What’s your thoughts on the sleepy creek #3 coil springs as far as quality, tuneability, durability, compared to an MB-550. I’m assuming the MB is an overall better trap, sure. But how does the sleepy creek stack up?

Well there isn't really any tuneability with the mb 550s unless they're the old style dogs.

Sleepy we're good traps. They just aren't made anymore.

The sc 3s have a little more room inside but the pans are to big imo. I ground a couple of slots in them as the levers hit high and hard when set off. Decent traps but if i had to pick, it would be the 550 all the way.

I’ve never used SC 3s but I’ve used the SC 1.5 when I ran out of coyote sized Montanas and MB550s.

The SC offset 1.5 caught and held the biggest coyote I’ve ever taken.

But in my current arsenal of coyote traps, I have MB550 offsets and a couple #3 offset Montanas. Both work equally well

Never too old to learn

all good info. I think sterling and pcs have some sleepy creek #3's right now and wasn't sure how they faired comparatively. obviously they're a little cheaper so i'd assume they're not quite the same quality but i'm looking for a do all trap in PA. when i set I could have an equal chance for a fox, coyote, bobcat, or fisher and was either looking at the SC 3's or getting more closed jaws 2 coils 550's.
