Hey everyone, what do some of you use for a trapping pad when making a set. Something I can pull the dirt up on, or where can I buy one

Should go read some of steel traps and Tejas threads they both use kneeing cloths , canvas tarp deals and got at length about them

I got a Husky brand kneeling pad. It's about 24x18 inches. Bought at Home Depot. Big black foam pad.

Then I bought a piece of canvas from the surplus Military store. Enough to make a few tarps. Super heavy duty. Mark one side so you know which is the top side. These last forever.

A painting tarp can be bought brand new at Home Depot. You can cut a few trapping tarps from one of them. Throw it in the creek for a day to wash the new smell out if you are worried about it.

I use empty feed sacks , they last a long time and don't cost nuthin . I usually wear knee pads anyway so don't need the " cushion"

Black garbage bag, when we get snow.

All I'm after is keeping knees dry.

Years ago when I was newer I got a canvas tarp and cut a hole the size of my trap beds cut out to contain dirt when making flat sets

Best I've used is a piece of silage bag from a local farmer, Black on one side white on the other, so it's easy to always put down the same way. They are really tough. You can cut to size and shape you want. Any farmer that uses them will have a pile of it once they start feeding unless the burn every day. I ask for a piece think 6'x 6' so I could make several. The farmer picked up a piece that was probably 20' by 30' with a grapple bucket and dumped in the back of my pickup.

I usually wear hip boots trapping so kneel in them. I have often knelt on my hammer or trowel handle as well, though i prefer a gardening pad, or better yet on e of those soft interlocking floor pads they make, kids wont mind lol
