We would drive up behind each other on our bikes. Get our front tire next to our friend's or brother's rear tire. Then we would turn the handlebars hard to make our front wheel knock them over. You had to fight the wheel to regain control and brake hard, or you would crash too. We called it bike tag. It was not safe.

Our parents forbid bike tag after a few bad wrecks.

. That reminds me of a story from my youth. We would play cowboys and Indians with machetes and Benjamin 22 caliber pellet guns. One day my friend was scalped by an Indian while attempting to reload .

The parents had a meeting and decided to let it continue since no one actually died

Generation X was predicted to ruin modern civilization, as we know/knew it. LOL.

Bunch of sissies and gender fluent things followed. Hard to be a grown up, eh?

I feel bad for the younger generations. We rode our bicycles down cattle trails and washerboard gravel roads. Once in a blue moon, my mom would load our bikes up in the back seat of the car and trunk and take us into town to visit our grandma where we could ride on concrete. It was pure heaven.

The youngsters will never get to experience the sheer bliss of going to the 7/11 and getting a slurpee and playing Pacman, Donkeykong, or Tetris on a stand up arcade machine; all while listening to Guns n Roses and Aerosmith on the jukebox at the pizzahut afterwards! Pure heaven back then.

We played tag on quads like that Keith. At the time that was an old school Honda 250X. 250R was a bad machine.

I'm pretty sure we were trying to kill each other as kids.

Jousting on bicycles
Bicycle demo derby
BB and pellet gun fights
Lawn dart dodge ball
Croquet dodge ball
There was almost always a fight or two

Just to name a few things we did back in our youth

Red rover, no equipment necessary. Nothing like clotheslining your best friend at full speed.

I dont think we went inside until it was time for dinner. And I had callouses on my hands from constantly climbing trees. My pap made us A teepee and a treehouse. Sat on the porch swing with grandma and sang nursery rhymes that most dont know anymore.
Happy times !!

Smash, if I never have another sno-cone I'll die happy.

As a Boy Scout, we volunteered to work local company picnics. I usually got stuck making sno-cones. Covered in red and blue syrup and swatting wasps was not my idea of fun.

Canoe jousting was fun. One guy standing on the bow gunwales, with a 8 foot staff, one guy paddling steering. Parents made us wrap the staff ends after a few black eyes and a broken hand.

Water balloon launcher wars, flash light tag, always riding a bike. water balloon launchers would get a water balloon about 100 yards or so but eggs could double that and more.

We usually stuck to cowboys and injuns or cops and robbers until close to the 4th of july.
At that time of year we played WW1 trench warefare games with red riders and M-80s

lots of dodge ball
