At coyote days, a couple of instructors were cross staking with long Timberlok screws. They had fender washers at the top. I will give it a try this year on a few traps. Just drive them with a drill gun. Screw them in, screw them out. Even in frozen ground.
Trail cameras and fresh snow have broke a lot of trapper’s hearts.

A screw in anchor in my mixed rooty rocky ground would be a recipe for another torn muscle. I hold my drill with both hand drilling a 7/8" pilot hole for finned super stakes and still get jerked pretty good at times when I hit a root or rock. I can imagine it would be much worse with enough power to screw in an anchor with both hands, much less one hand.

How would you keep the cable or chain from getting tangled as you drill it into the ground? And you most likely would have to dig that out of the ground at the end of the season.
My idea was to weld something like a 1 1/4” helicle on something like a 5/8” x 2” bolt, 3/4” head. Weld some chain on the head. Could chop 3/4” socket and weld it to a pipe. That would contain your chain so it don’t twist. Could drive it with an impact or drill. Idk. I live in a land of beautiful black dirt. I think It’d work around here. I just don’t have the time and resources to mess with something like that.

They do, it is called a grapple drag. Or you can chain to a tree or log. I'm unaware of a driven anchor you can use truly one handed. There’s nothing for drags to catch around here. It’s open ag land. And usually frost in the ground when trapping rolls around.

Sending thoughts and prayers your way for a speedy recovery. I had a complete distal bicep tear (torn at the elbow) at the beginning of March and should get fully cleared next week. It has been a long six months.

You can buy tent stakes like that cheap (ish), dig your bed extra deep, set the anchor, trap on top. Easy Peasy!

Google earth anchors. There are all kinds of screw in anchors. Don't worry about the chain tangling just add it once the screw is in the ground.
