Exactly, when John Brown brought his game east to attack, kill, and capture the government arsenal at Harper's Ferry, Colonel Lee and the US Marines put it all to rest and nothing else ever came of it.

An aside note. I love Harpers Ferry. I live very close to it and enjoy the rich history. The fact that one man stood up to a tyrannical institution that wanted to own people is a magnificent thing to teach our children. On that note. It's essential to put the John Brown raid into context. You are right, when it came east, the disruption in the status quo was intolerable. It wasn't just that it was back east, but that both the Springfield, MA, and Harpers Ferry arsenals were comparable to a nuclear missile site today. It was a statement to take it. Not just logistically, but as PR, his impact lasts long and rattled a lot of people. The second and third-order effects brought about a human struggle that shifted how we as a nation stand together. But compared with today's political and social climates, what is happening now pales in comparison. Long Live John Brown.

To a person ignorant of nature, his country stroll is a walk through a gallery filled with wonderful works of art with their faces turned to the wall

Really????

Have you researched into John Brown much? The dude was a psychotic sociopathic murderer and would have been no matter his cause. He was a horrible human being.

Might as well justify putting the entire DNC into camps using that sort of reasoning.

As a result of Bloody Kansas and John Brown the nation was plunged into a division the killed over a hundred thousand and still plagues us to this day and shattered foundational constitutional federalism.

Oh I figured that was a picture from the San Jacinto County Future Democrats of America picnic.

Proudly banned from the NTA.

Bother me tomorrow. Today I'll buy no sorrows.

Well I guess this Joshua Jahn, the now brainless shooter, is just a product of his raising. The mama sounds like a good democrat.

Really? It's the abolitionist's fault, and not the fault of the slave owners?

(BTW, I thought the civil war wasn't about slavery)

I'm not defending slavery. The end does not justify the means or offer an excuse to be evil.

I myself firmly believe abortion to be an abhorrent evil and murder by any definition. To the point that I firmly believe the willing mother should receive the death penalty along with the abortionist as should all murderers.

However, in the very same breath, I can call Eric Rudolph, who bombed abortion clinics, an abhorrent evil deserving of the death penalty.

Your thought process would have MLK taking up arms against the country and justifiably taking life.

You never hear the details of the weapon.
At the ranges of most of these shootings, anyone with a good rest and a few seconds could make a good shot.
I had a land owner where I used to do a little pest control who was incredibly impressed by my ability to kill ground squirrels out to 150 yards with a 17HMR.
Boggled his mind to think that virtually anyone could do that if they tried.

I'm just a soul whose intentions are good. O Lord please don't let me be misunderstood.

I have no problem with bombing abortion cl abortionists. If you, like me, believe abortion is murder, then I would hope you feel the same. Lethal, violent force is justified in the defense of the life of others. That would include the unborn. Shooting an abortion doctor is no different than shooting a school shooter, as far as I'm concerned. What you're saying, as far as I see it, is to not stop the school shooter, and to instead let the legal system deal with it in the courtroom.

Relating that to slavery......lethal force is justified, as far as I'm concerned, to prevent my own enslavement. So it's also justified to prevent the enslavement of others. (Nevermind the fact that American slavery involved a lot of violence, including murder, and violent force is justified in preventing the assault or murder of others).

Regarding MLK and the civil rights movement, and taking up arms.....here's a good book on the subject. It's a good read, if you haven't read it already.

I have zero obligation to others, though I would step up if violence to others was occurring in front of me. Though I personally do not consider chattel slavery in and of itself to be violence. Mistreatment of property, yes, but the condition of, no. Matter of fact slavery is still perfectly legal in the US, check out the 13th. Private ownership verboten, state ownership perfectly legal.
