I have a piece of gear (CO2 heater) that draws 100 watts. My inverter puts out 140 watts. With a 6 foot extension cord between the inverter and the CO2 heater, should this handle the load? Seems straight forward.
Thanks

Does it take more Watts during startup? That's the only potential problem I see.

I do not think so. It is an electric heater used to heat co2 before it hits the regulator to keep from freezing up the regulator.

cigarette lighter fuse might pop. most inverters have their own breaker. hook it to the battery.

motors have a high inrush current.
heating elements have a smaller inrush current because the heating element has a lower resistance at low temp.

But often, the watt ratings are inflated. I got a hand held airles paint sprayer a while back that claimed to be 800w. Steady state while operating was less than 350w.

I'd just try it a few times at home, letting the lighter cool completely between each attempt.

Chances are the heater draws more than 100 and the inverter provides less than 140. Use the shortest cord with the fattest wire is all you can do. See what happens. Know before you count on it. Hope that helps.
