have. Not seen an obituary either..... at his request. .....The family was to do cremation. And spread his ashes up on the mountains. And I think he requested no service. As k9 said to me..."classic slim".
Shelly was asking me if id seen anything and i about told her word per word what Slim's wish's were without even knowing he had done that. At last he's back in his beloved rocky mtn's, probably where he was the happiest during this lifetime.

Hi again
Bob S..........I've never used VENMO, I know people that do. How does it work? If they need to hook my bank acct and need that same info, no thanks, no offense! How did you have to set yours up?
TrappinTom.... thank you !!!
OHWolfPerson............I agree on the checks as we don't dare send cash like we used to "back in the good ole days" ......... We used to get pretty creative with putting cash in socks, wrapping the socks in clothes, on and on !
I know a check can be a pain for all of you that are online'ers.......anyone that just will 'not' send one out? In the meantime give me til first of the week to check out Venmo.

Jtrapper........ "I can see Slim laughing now watching ol crazy maw cat trying once again to do something nice and it blowing up in her face, nearly as bad as her trying to operate a microwave oven, lol. Notice i didn't agree to send anything, not my first rodeo with ANYTHING that crazy woman is involved in, lol.
******* BE NICE...........FCOL !!! Besides, you've never ridden a horse in a rodeo, I'd bet money on it! And Slim loved cats..........Winnie to be exact several years ago. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/09/full-16141-268232-100_1668.jpg)

Has anyone seen an obituary? I search regularly, but I have not found anything yet. Thanks.
I have not, seem to be slow at getting them out. A coworker got killed back in July, and his didn't come out Till mid August.
Let me sugar coat this

Hi........I apologize for my slowness here - lot going on and I just haven't gotten to the VENMO yet. Can I ask...........do a lot of you use that then ? I've been using PayPal for years, but I'm not giving them my bank password and user name, that's crazy.
I have gotten a few checks in the mail, about 5. How can we speed this up? I will call my bank and check out VENMO on Monday.
thanks - Laurie

I’ll send one out tomorrow or Saturday. When I got back into trapping as an adult I enjoyed meeting him at the Georgia trappers convention and the NTA southeastern
I’d also like to see a obituary and find a grave link

thank you all that are sending checks!
I'd like to talk to the Discretionary Fund group also, about sending a nice amount from there. There would be no Discretionary Fund if he hadn't started collecting money for kind of a joke deal, and we got quite a bit in and after talking to Paul, we started the fund. Way back in.......2003? Something like that. Someone messaged me about a scholarship (yearly), and I have thought that over. I also talked to a few people about it, and the consensus is, that Slim was a very modest, pretty ego-less guy. He was a big deal to a lot of us, except to himself. He didn't want a service, or anything to put his name out there continually - except his books/videos that he made to help people. He never had much money as he passed it around like water.....to help trapping. He spent his savings on dies he had made for the rubber jaw trap that was his dream, he just didn't have money left to actually make it. He talked to SO many people about it, I was there for many of those conversations - but I don't think I could repeat much of it ! We are getting those dies, and a sample of the trap - to Tom Parr to put in the trapping museum there in Ohio. Again, that was the dream....building that rubber jaw trap his way. I really hope someone can take that over some day and get it done. There are a few people that have talked to him extensively about it, and we hope to get them on a list for anyone that does take it on. We will get names to Tom to put with the dies/trap in the museum at his place in Ohio.
For those interested in his lures - Bruce Rhoads in Iowa, Backwater Bait, is still making and handling them. He sends to dealers, individuals, etc. Get ahold of him for anything Lure related. www.backwaterenterprises.com brucerhoads@hotmail.com TELEPHONE NUMBER 641 990 5790 Backwater Enterprises 500 Station St Chelsea, Iowa 52215
As far as books/dvd's - most dealers have them all or can get them. Keith Winkler/Sterling Fur - is the control of them all now/he prints them when needed etc. Maybe I'll get whacked for mentioning this............but there is ONE LAST short book that he wrote in 2021. He pretty much always had me proofread everything, but we never really put this book out there. But we are going to soon. Keith will be on that project in a few weeks, I'm going to do some proofreading and find a couple photos for it, probably ones you've seen by now. But this is pages of personal experiences, I think you'll enjoy it.........still accepting checks for the memorial fund: Laurie Jones-Woolson 62 Parkhurst Road Oswego NY 13126

forgot to post this, I'm sorry. As of today (no mail yet; it is drizzling out there and well, I might dissolve.........I'm so sweet...........no comment from DirtBats either!).........
so as of today, I have $550.00 even in my envelope here. I am using a Priority envelope to put it all in and make the list.......... just so I know what is there. Can someone from the Discretionary Fund email me about how I ask for money from ya'll for this ? laurie339@gmail.com or text my cell if you have it.......or message me!
I know price of stamps has gone up again - but I think Slim's contributions to our industry here, is worth that !
Laurie
OH...........and for all you "old timers"..........he loved my oatmeal cake ! Kinda like ole Newt.........snuck by Paul's table at the New York convention and had way more pieces than he needed! Good thing I brought 3 cakes that year!
