I'm looking to trap beaver for the first time this fall and am working on prepping traps for the season. Any recommendations on how to set the trigger wires or how to bend the trigger wires on 330s?

Unless otherwise dictated by state law the spread v shape is a real work horse for a 330 trap. I recommend you stick to that. Good luck. Im thinking of putting some snare floats together this year.

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

I spread my 330 triggers in a V shape also or even wishbone shape.

Depending on where you set you're 330's if you have a lot of otter ,muskrats , fish or wild ducks I wouldn't bend them at all but leave them close together and slide them off to one side or another .

I also preferred having the trigger wires on the bottom so if it damages the fur it won't be on the middle of the back .

I'd also suggest keeping about 12' - 15' of derby line ✓rope with a bow line on one end just in case you decide to join the 330 club and can get yourself out !

You're friend along the snare line .

Specifically trying to trap beaver and avoiding otters and muskrat I bend the wires so that they hug the edge of the jaws.

Oh and put stainless trigger wires on 330s. You're going to have to replace them eventually so do it as soon as you can. Or at least have them on hand

I replace wires when they break off. About 5 years after I get them.

I usually set with triggers on the bottom in either a football goal post arrangement or “L” shape to avoid otters and muskrats.

Never too old to learn

Wires on the bottom, like a goal post.
Best of luck
