"The "One Big Beautiful Bill" is not an appropriations bill because it was passed through the budget reconciliation process, which is specifically designed to make changes to mandatory spending, revenues, and the federal debt limit, rather than funding day-to-day government operations through annual appropriations.
Reconciliation bills are subject to special procedural rules in the Senate, allowing them to pass with a simple majority vote and limited debate, but they are restricted to provisions that directly impact the federal budget.

Appropriations bills, in contrast, are used to fund discretionary government programs and agencies on an annual basis and follow a different legislative path.
The "One Big Beautiful Bill" focuses on permanent changes to mandatory spending programs like Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), as well as tax policy, rather than allocating funds for specific government operations in the coming fiscal year.
As such, it cannot include most discretionary spending provisions, which will be addressed in future legislation."

Apparently, not one of the twelve appropriations bills have been passed this year due September 30. frown

I'm waiting for the answer to this, I think I know but I don't want to spoil it.

I think there is a lady from Arizona waiting to be sworn in also.

Rumor has it that if the gubbiment shuts down they aren't going to furlough nonessential employees as normal. Some will get runn oft.

I also heard that Steven, and it makes things a bit more interesting. If the democrats refuse to pass a spending bill, what will all their constituents think when they get fired?

They will not get fired without lawsuits that will probably be loss again. Unpaid layoffs are probably legal and a good idea.

Furloughing is usually a waste of time because they always get back pay for the time they were furloughed.

If someone is furloughed can they file for temporary unemployment? An example would be a construction worker that gets laid off for the month of January because of lack of work, or does the term furlough change what a person can do.
