Like many you take the passage literally and dont look at the context of the times and the audience and culture it was spoken to. A slap was an insult. It was about not letting insults and trivial things get out of hand and forgive them. Not as taken by people today as you should not defend yourself or others.

Matt, you're a man and I have no doubt you will do what needs done. A large part of Christianity was intentionally designed to control the lower classes of people and especially to keep them servile and docile to their rulers.

Yes Keith passages and scripture has been miss used and taken out of context for centuries. Man has been crupted since the fall. Its uo to us to read and understand it ourselves.
