I made up two different all purpose bait mixtures using ground beaver as my meat base. I used a bait solution formula on one batch and used my own recipe on the other. The texture of the bait solution formula is great with a mild smell. The recipe I made up is very strong and has a great smell but the meat texture is very rubbery. Its not quite wet but not quite dry either. Will glycerin help with the texture and moisture content or does anyone have any other tricks that might help?

Glycerin will help, sure. Mix in until desired consistency then in a week mix it up and see if you need to add any more. There’s other oils that hold their own scent profile that are will benefit as well that can certainly be used in replacement of glycerin. Take a small portion (pint or quart) of your mother material and experiment in small batches. Oh, An extra piece of friendly advice? Write it all down. The good, the bad, and even the ugly.

Help it do what? What type of texture do you want? Glycerin will make it wetter, probably stickier, and has the dual advantages of not drying out or freezing. But a rubbery bait sounds like it might be nice to work with if you are dropping it down a hole or pipe, if you are smearing it on something, probably not so much.

Meat can be like rubber for a few days when Sodium Benzoate is used as a preservative.

Urine & some oils. Will have a bad reaction and be like rubber or grease. For me Skunk Oil seems to be the worst that I have seen so far?
