So what is wire called that has a bare cu, green, white and black wires? Looking at 12 gauge wire that has those 4 wire and colored bare, green, white and black.

Sounds like a it might be a way to wire GFCI's so if one kicks everything downstream doesn't kick too. I do that by connecting the hot conductor to the line terminal only, not the line and load terminals. That way when one kicks off, the others on that circuit stay working. The others are also GFCI's. I'd be interested in seeing a diagram like you are referring to if you could provide a link.

Green ground is typically for appliances, and is braid, not solid. I have seen the combo you, (OP), list in HVAC installations. What is your intended use?
Sorry I was going to delete those wiring diagrams but I need to leave this morning and forgot. Just going to wire in a sub panel and hook up a few outlets.
