I know this, even if we were allowed to kill wolves year round, no limit, no weapons restrictions and 24 hours a day we would never be able to rid ourselves of them. Only poison would maybe make it possible again but the collateral damage would be unacceptable. We’re stuck with them, like it or not.

The incident in Elcho was only a couple miles from our camp.

Last year hunters, farmers and pet owners in WI were paid out over $300k for depredations. 2025 is looking to be on par with that figure again.

The emails about depredations are a weekly occurrence now.

I am pretty sure in Wisconsin we could eradicate them in a couple of years hunting and trapping if that was the goal. It would not require poison. Maybe our wolves are dumber than MT wolves.

I don't think it has any thing to do with dumb or smart wolves. More about people per square mile that wolves per square mile.

This is inevitable. There are bound to be encounters like these as both an and wolf adapt to each other

To a person ignorant of nature, his country stroll is a walk through a gallery filled with wonderful works of art with their faces turned to the wall

We all know this....without management you get this type of DAMAGE. Kids should be watched in those areas.
