I know you've been to battle against the dreaded buck thorn. I have some that showed up last year on one property I hunt they were about 2 feet tall and in two small patches then, now they are 6 feet tall and have spread considerably. What is the best way to get rid of them? I couldn't find the thread you made a couple years ago.

tordon or gordons RTU gel on a fresh cut

some people put a dye in it so they can see where they have been

https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/tordon-rtu-1-qt

make the cut , cover the cut of the stump with the gel

good to keep your cuts 6 inches above grade you are a lot less likely to put your chain in the ground and in a year you can kick the stump out a lot of the time

also 6-8 inches is enough to get a chain on , or not run over

low risk with such a small targeted application.

you can treat a LOT of stumps with a quart of the gel

Thanks GCP all the plants I have seen are very thin maybe pinky thick at most and many are less than pencilthick and high stem count. I havent located a mature buck thorn on the property. Not sure i could effectively gel that many little stems was thinking of soaking a blanket in liquid poison and dragging it over the cut area.

it has a dish soap like top that screws on the bottle or but you can put some in a cup with a little harbor freight paint brush heck you could wire that to a stick so you don't bend over as much

so a loppers , a pruners and your cup of RTU herbicide with some blue dye in it

very targeted application

it is about the thickness of dish soap so you can just put a dab on or paint it on

Cut and squirt fresh cuts. Some I leave the stump high and pull out with the tractor.
