I've got a dozen 450 closed jaw on the way. Going to give them a try and see how they compare to the 550 as far as live market goes. I will also get a dozen or two closed jaw for my 550s.

Those 2 choices are as good as you're gonna get straight out of the box (without mods) for the live market.

So what would your 450 set look like for trapping coyotes? Chain length, swivels, shock spring, etc.?

Reviving an older thread here but was curious of how the closed-jaw MB450s were for live market? How were the feet?

I have tried the 450 closed jaw , they do work well for the live market. We also use the 1.75 offset modified bridger and Victor. With #2 music wire springs . The victors being kind of hard to find it seems now , I would give the 1.75 bridger a try with laminated jaws. All the chains are basically the same , 2 crunch proof swivels , pit shock spring , chained superstake and like 3 links of chain between trap and shock spring.

The closed jaw traps will always have better feet than the offset traps. 100% of the time because of the lockup position being higher.

The beat traps I’ve ever used for line Marley were MB-450s, MB-550s with specially laminated jaws, and Victor soft catch 1.5 and 1.75. The victors weee small and I’m not a fan of rubber jaws, the 450s are a tad small, but the laminated 550s were primo.
