I recall folks wanting some chaps, but JC wasn't making them anymore, if my memory is correct. Anyway, you can get them from Blackwater Trapping Supplies. They're out of South Carolina. They look to be very heavy duty and have pads in the knees. They run $110 cash or $115 through their website. I noticed they were selling like hotcakes at the NC and SC convention.

Site says only size “Husky” in stock. May try a pair when the regular size comes back in

Curious how folks use these? I have never used chaps. What do they do and what makes them valuable?

Wear them over jeans. Keeps jeans clean, they have knee pads in them. Also keep your jeans dry. Probably help with scent control some also.

Yep, I have an old pair of Wick chaps I used to wear going to the dogs all the time. Carried them in the truck and put them on before I left it. They were technically "briar chaps" and were tough going through briars and brush, but I primarily wore them like rain pants, quick and easy to put on and off, comfortable, and kept my legs dry. And a coat would reach past the tops of them if it was really raining and not just wet brush. Went to a fourwheeler or snowmachine 25 years ago, and chaps don't keep your butt dry on those, so they haven't had much use since then. For those of you that kneel to set traps they could be very handy with the knee pads in them.

Wait, you wear pants under your chaps? I may have to try that.

I have nothing clever to put here.

We did sell out of the regular size chaps at the last convention and only have a limited number of husky chaps available at the moment. We should be receiving the new shipment next week. I will be sure to keep everyone updated.
