I have half dozen 850s that are offset and I’m wondering if anyone has targeted beaver with them? Little worried the gap in the jaws will be too wide. Any experience?

Thanks in advance

Never use offsets in water.

Get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US.

I pretty much buy traps for predators and use them to get enough beaver for bait. Never had an issue with #4 LS that are OS. Just noticed the gap is wider on these.

I've caught exactly one beaver in that trap. I bought it just to add to the wolf trap collection in case we were to ever get a season back. I don't like offsets for beaver, but wanted to catch something in it. The trap inhaled his hind foot and didn't let go.

If they are what you have use them. I've caught beavers in big traps with off sets before, because that is what I had. With the jaw spread and enormous spring strength on those 850's, with some good pan tension, I bet you get mostly high enough catches the offset would not be an issue.

It is now my go-to beaver trap. I took two of the springs off to make it a bit easier to set.
