Been awful quiet on here. Nobody leave the cabin all summer? I know what kind of summer weather my brothers in Southeast suffered through this past summer, and fall isn't shaping up too nice, either. How are my trapping,(and hunting, and fishing), friends and acquaintances from the North fareing? Has to be some good stories by now. And yes, I miss my line.

AV, spring started out in Fairbanks and the surrounding area, with some good size fires. &several of them burned down some homes. Very smokey in town for much of summer. No salmon fishing again in all of the interior. As fall came so did the rains. Lots of high water and the leaves did not drop early enough to have an excellent moose season. Still do not have frozen ground. We'll see when we can start trapping.

Thanks for the update. I'm told southeast got ravaged. Late spring, BIG rain, lots and lots of wind. Not sure about berries, but salmon streams that I used to enjoy were poor. Bears will be hungry, which when that happened around my old line meant bear problems all winter. I know last year was a good winter for otterman, the first good, frozen, cold winter for him in quite a while, but with this years weather patterns, he might suffer again. Hope not. How are things going on the Board? Oh, and one more thing: Have you seen Larry V.? Wondering how he's doing.

Good to hear. Is Stosh still on the Board? When I left, (2 years ago), you had a very good Board. Can't replace Ted, of course, but forever grateful for what he accomplished. Serious stuff. Yes Stosh is still on. I like the board we have now.

I don't know about the rest of SE, but in September southern SE was beautiful, day after day after day. Best I've ever seen it. That's good to hear. I know there were windows of decent weather in the northern panhandle, but wind and rainfall was over-all poor. And of course, timing is everything. I remember a couple decades ago in Juneau, we had a spring and summer for the ages. Months of warm, dry weather and little wind. The previous winter had little snow, too. It made being a human in that rainforest wonderful......until the salmon showed up. The streams were so low the chums couldn't get up. Pinks, either. Some were spawning on the beaches at high tide, and dying there, as well. Man, what a stink! Some rivers didn't let coho up either, and that showed up in creel census later. We sure had a bumper berry crop, though!
