I have raised New Zealand White, Californian, Champagne D'Argents, Rex, and several more. I much prefer the Rex to any of them. When we had NZW and Californian, we fed 18% protein feed with free fed clover hay, and they would hit butcher weight of 5lbs live weight in around 60 days. Rex will grow a bit slower, same feed they hit butcher weight around 70-80 days. However, Rex are A LOT more docile and less aggressive than the NZW or Californians - to both the kits and humans. Buy the best breeding stock you can afford. This is the building blocks on which you will grow your herd.

Can't remember, how old is she?

4H might be perfect for her! (Around here at least), it's super cheap to join and the kiddos learn all kinds of stuff. Work days on farms, workshops, great social skill builder on top of learning farm-centric stuff.
