Okay we all know dog gets blamed for any smelly gas.
Problem I have right now is my pup just out right stinks. I have had plenty dogs drop bombs on me so nothing new. But this pup who will be a year old tomorrow. Seems to be especially smelly gas. I currently feeding her same Diamond Natural potato and salmon, my son feeds his lab. He switched to the potato and Salmon because his lab was scratching all time. Vet recommended something with Salmon oil and she is now fine. Does drop bombs of course as they do. But not so ripe.
For many years I fed my dogs nothing but Purina green bag. They did fine.
Now I'm thinking I need to switch the pup out to something different. I hate the idea of different food for every dog. But gotta be something won't make her stink like she does.
Anyone else been down rabbit hole with trying different dog foods.
Of course Google has all experts with something to sell. Usually some probiotic.
I just want to get to where I can have truck windows up come winter.

Mac

We tried giving BuckShot probiotics once for some gut issues he had. His first fart smelled worse than liquid manure on a sultry August day.

Good luck.

Been through the food switching, we try to find one that works with the problem child and then they all get the same thing....

Can't help with the gas issue, but it could be food related.....

Your food is pretty decent. There are so many foods on the market to confuse consumers, but meat is the first ingredient in that one; And I believe that food has a probiotic in it already. I would see about a stool and giardia screening even if the puppy has been dewormed. Coccidia can cause some foul gas. Sometimes a short trial of a bland diet can help re-set the puppies gut. Like 5-7 days.
And sometimes, no matter how we hate to deal with it, certain pets can just be born with GI issues and may need prescription food that is very low residue and easily digestible.

Tried several dry foods that were supposed to be for digestive care, none worked. Finally we switched ours to canned food, made a world of difference on the gas but the cost ain't fun. This is the least expensive one we can find that doesn't cause the gas... dog food

What breed dog? Feeding more than a 21% protein kibble can lead to kidney problems for hunting dogs. I feed my Beagles Purina, red or green bag, (Beef or Chicken flavor) Your dog may be allergic to something in that feed.

years ago, we a had a shepherd mix that was used to a dry food. My parents watched her for a few days while we were away. apparently, we didn't leave enough food for the last day, so Dad got a can of wet food and fed her right before we picked her up.

the 1 1/2 hour ride home was ATROCIOUS! We were going 65 with windows down and it STILL started to melt the rear window glass!!

Been feeding my 9 month old pup Science Diet no issues the wife's stupid doodle 2 year old eats it also all systems go so far can’t pin a fart on either one of the mutts. The down side is the cost the puppy food was around $90 for 27.5 lbs the adult bag now is $95 but it has a few more pound of food in it.

Easy clean up with a rake and a pan is another advantage to the better foods. The puppy food was chicken and rice but the adult food is lamb and rice it seems like less scratching with the lamb VS chicken based food.

We all know that meat and meat based foods are good for dogs. But they tend to produce a lot worse gas than the cheap corn based foods. If you really want some rank gas, start feeding them raw beaver meat.

Amen brother.
I’ve got my lab on beaver right now. Putting weight on him before duck season. From past experience I can tell you that it’ll knock a buzzard off a gut wagon. Best dog food there is for a working dog though.
Yet another reason dogs don’t come in my house, and I’ve got 9 at the moment lol.

Pretty sure humans are no different just putting up some critters can give a guy muskrat or beaver gas just breathing the air.

That doodle is about as dumb as they come that’s just a fact at 2 years old she can’t take it out off the leash but my pup does fine without one.

You're going about this all wrong, Mac. Your focus should be on modifying your own diet in order to out-fart the dog.

Just eat a vegan or diabetic diet the dogs won’t have a chance then!

Mac, just open a jar of skunk juice in the house and hide it. Wife won't mind the dog smell so much then.
