Just saw it. Seems to be true.19 missing from a bomb factory explosion

Yeah, that's been in the news and by the looks of what's left, I'm doubting they'll find any survivors.

Sad deal.

Yeah not good, completely blew the building to nothing.

We had a Hercules powder plant in the county I grew up in. It blew three times that I remember, killing folks I knew, before finally closing. Hunted with a buddy that worked there. He wore a tee shirt that said, be nice to me I'm a welder in a dynamite factory. Jack had a weird sense of humor.

Between that, the mines, and open hearth at US Steel/US Pipe/ACIPCO lots of us kids had uncles and fathers that might not come home at shift change.

Building materials found 3 miles away they said.

Awful situation.

I was reading on a local deer hunting forum that people 10 to 18 miles away heard and felt the explosion. Last I heard 18 was still missing and there was survivors.

Not sure how anyone survived that

It is rough when you go to work and not all return.

I worked at the Corn Husker Ammunition plant near Grand Island, Ne in 1999 just before being drafted.
Our line made 750 lb. bombs. During WW2 they had an explosion that decimated an entire assembly line making grenades.
A few dozen workers did not go home. Workstations were actually buildings a quarter mile from each other.
