I quit building snares! I can't deal with it, too boring and by the time ive made a dozen ive not saved a dime, is just as cheap to order them pre made per my spec's from newt, rally or whoever.

I like the cam locks, with a loaded snare they are super fast, no tail catch's in these YET! Ive also started using a smaller loop in certain area's/sets, around a 8 inch loop, not as many dinky beaver make it through them and adults usually have the loop around the neck. Would cut down on your pelt damage.

Rubber whammy's are fine, ive used them and they work great. I since have just gone back to my twisted .14 ga. wire support as it's what im more familiar with and as said it's easier to work with than stiff .11 gauge wire.

Not sure why your making them 60 inch's long, will work but seems like a waste of cable to me. A 42-48 inch snare is plenty for beaver and like was said just cut the snare off and attach a new one to your extension cable.

Not my circus, not my clowns.

How true, how true!!!! I have my own spec's that my snares are made to and it is so much easier to pick the phone up.......

Looks like very good setup.
I just use something nearby for stabilizer but Id say yours works much faster. I also use a lot of guide, it has always seemed to work fine for me. However some of the best beaver trappers say stay a little less obvious. If its working for you, I wouldnt change it.

Heck Jackie...I don't know. LOL. I said I was a newbie at this snaring business. I think the first few snares I picked up several years ago were 60".....and I stuck with it. That long extension is all my doing though. I started with 4', then settled on 5'. I went to 6' when I started making the very large loop on the end.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the thread, and for all the info that was shared via PMs as well.

I know I can some catch beaver...but I sure like to see how other folks do stuff...especially you wise ones that have been doing it a while.

I've got a bunch of ideas now to play with....and more are still welcome!

THANKS!

PDK relaxing locks. They work alright but if you use them on coon you better be on a 6-7 hour check. Coon will chew like crazy in them.

They leave a faint snare mark on beaver if body caught.

I'd never seen them but wondered if that was it. Buzzard--they advertised those in the Trapper as a "No Line Lock" I believe.

I think That is what they are calling them now since Kyle has the relaxalock name but when I bought them, back in 2005 I believe, they were calling them that before. Like I said they are really nice on beaver but coon chew out if you are not carefull
