Got a bunch of new traps that I need to get some tags for. I made my own for last year, but don't have time this year to make them. I am getting conflicting info on line with what info we need on them. The booklet of Illinois says name, address or customer ID number (I just have my customer ID on original). But I found on the website that you have to have all three.

Also I am going to do some trapping in Wisconsin. Haven't read all the fine print yet, so if anyone knows the requirements there.

Just name and address works

That will work in WI. Now I use my customer #.

Wisconsin is either:
'NAME and ADDRESS'
or
'WI CUSTOMER #'

The only thing I put on my tags when I used them was my last name and the town I lived in. Now I use my customer #

You don't even need tags in Illinois if you engrave your traps. It says you can do that in the rules. I actually did that and got checked by the CPO. I was able to show him and he said good.

In Illinois you need traps to be inscribed or tagged with metal tags showing name and address or your DNR customer ID number. What I have been doing is my name and ID # that way if I move I don't have to take them all off and replace them. For Wi I'm not sure what they require

WI requires either name and address or DNR number engraved on a metal tag attached to the trap.

I don't think write your own tags would be legal in WI.

in illinois i just do my dnr number that is it no name no address. talked with multiple officers and they said number only is legal. they changed it cause anti trapping people would harass the trapper showing up at their houses when they found a trap and it had an address on it.

I always recommend commercially stamped tags, like Funke's makes.

I would recommend either Funke's or Larry Finch. There's a point of being cheap or being frugal. You dont have to worry about being able to read them next year. Use your time for other trapping season preparations.

MTP makes some great tags. I just changed all my tags to my customer # and bought them from MTP
