What is the best sifter in your opinion and why?

I like a straight wall 3” depth heavy duty sifter. Never cared for the shallow angled walled sifters.

I actually went back to the cheaper aluminum sifter from FnT. Lighter to carry and the screen is a little smaller. Has held up well but our ground is normally either mud or rock so I don’t use it a ton so I can get away with the cheaper one.

I'm cheap and don't use a sifter much. But I wanted a larger one for the rare times I am using one when setting big wolf traps. So I went to the thrift store and bought a 50 cent aluminum cake pan (actually used a steel one first, but got an aluminum one after it rusted) I think a 9"x14" or something similar in size. Then I took the drill press and drilled a bunch of 1/4" holes (you can go bigger or smaller, depending on how large of holes you prefer). Super light, cheap, and holds quite a lot of dirt. Works well as a sifter and if I lose it, drive over it, or otherwise destroy it, I'm out half the price of a can of pop these days.

Honestly I use a sifter mainly to put dirt I dig out of the trap bed in and pack away from the set, because I'm usually replacing it with waxed sand, maybe sift a little over the top to blend, but do the majority of the blending with duff, needles, etc.
