Was glad when the landowner called me to handle it.

Probably becuse of bad past experiences with Leo. They calling on meth heads casing your place and banging on your door and have the cops not want to come out. Only doing so when you tell them I will call you back to pick up the body. But when they get there they treat the land owner that called them like a criminal and dont act interest in the drug addict their thats probably one of the same that robed your barn the week before.
No instead they try to poke around your place and question you.

I saw this first hand when I stoped by my cousins several years ago. Sheriff was a pos . Myself im not wanting to invite any problems in my life regardless of if its the meth heads or the cops taking any opportunity to find something to harass you for. Even if you are who called them.

See this one time it sticks with you.

My experience with CO's and LEO's in generally is quite different. They have all been very polite and helpful. They can be hard to get a hold of at times but our CO's here cover a lot of Real Estate and are exceptionally busy this time of the year.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I think 10% is to high a number. I also think a guy that does stuff like that needs some of his property defiled right before he goes to jail. Sitting in a cage thinking about how he is going to repair his place or his vehicle or his firearms, thinking about all the money he is not making while smelling his cellmates flatulence and b.o. would be a good thing.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

In Wisconsin, COs have little authority on trespass issues. That has been left to your local sheriff's department. Now with the addition of trespass, there is criminal damage to property. What's the value of the corn lost? Again a sheriff's investigation.
Just a guess that the camera doesn't have a tag on it, as required on any public lands; which is why it was placed on your private property.

… one night me and a buddy was ridin dirt roads … headlights hit a deer in a curve that didn’t look right… I bailed out the passenger side … ran out and started humpin on that decoy … ol biggerstaff wasn’t amused … told me I was impeding a sting operation and he could take me to jail

… he didn’t… they always went easy on me back then

… even returned my traps to me after reported for catching gray fox on some Yankee transplants land … told me to go out and get the rest that weren’t found… not so much as a warning ticket

That's about the funniest thing I've ever heard. Thank you for the story sir.

How long ago was that property surveyed? Could be the guy had his On X or some app and it showed that the property line was off just a bit and he got cheeky and placed it on what he believes to be the line.

Not saying he’s right, but with the survey marker right there, I bet he thinks he’s legal.

Fell your pain, my brother and I started buying land in 1985, the stories we can tall of trespassers and poachers could make a book. Some pretty unbelievable.
As per trespassing round Chippewa County it is like pulling teeth to get anything done. I had a neighbor, habitual trouble and bad record. I had the pictures, video and the sheriff out. Sheriff was scared of the guy and warned me he is dangerous. I said I'm fine, I carry everywhere, now go ticket him. $250.0 whole dollars every time. Should escalate with each charge.

talking with my dad this evening and he reminded me there are still some boards out in the barn painted black with nails already drove in them from back in the 70s when my great grandfather did some behavior modification to some guy that was enjoying ripping uo some of the fields at night now and then.. Told me within about a week they found a tool box tools and jack out in the field and the TRESSPASING stoped.

Looks like great grandpa's board will save me a little time on Sunday. Its always get a kick out of watching my boys running the same tractor on the same land as their great great grandfather. Looks like they are going to get to use their great great grandfathers produced TRESSPASING behavior modification boards as well.

It’s always a good laugh to me how a small gauge snare (think mink or rabbit size wire) can become a full grown man boot snare. The human walking stride and leg lift is about the correct height for an “coon set” snare and the toe circumference fits just right through a decent loop. Had a few problems over the years and a legally set low hung snare right in their walking path with some weeds to break up and hide it a little can put a full grown dude flat on his face. They will of course take your snare but hey it’s a really fun catch anyway. If you get it in camera it’s even more funny. My philosophy is hey you are a trapper, go catch your target!

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Its not where he sets his treestrand or put the camera, its knocking down corn in a corn field. Guessing he trashed 10-15 bushell of corn. Not a lot in $$$ maybe $50-65. Its the point of that corn not being there this winter when the critters need it. The last 35-40 years of my life has been putting back more than I take. Its little things like this that ticks me off
