I set my first trap in 1980.. lol.. since then, I have always set my pans completely level.. watched a video of a guy coon trapping in the water, and catching them like crazy! his pans were all angled up.. my ocd was about to have a come apart! Is this something new that I have missed out on??

You see it a lot on water traps these days. Helps to keep coon from getting caught too high on the foot and gives mink and muskrat something to target to step on instead of the levers

That guy hasn't caught a coon in years but yeah his approach works and other water trappers are catching on!. Give it a try... He even bends his dog down a lil so once the pan starts falling its going to fire

I keep mine level! Everyone has their own way. It’s what works for you.

One of our forum members and fellow buckeye runs high pans and been catching over a 100 mink in Ohio for many years. Don't think he bends his dogs but his traps are so sensitive that if something heavier than water hits em they fire.

I've went to that as well, mostly for muskrats but I'll throw some out for mink when I hit spots that have em.
