Another thing to consider is that meat from Australia is lean meat, American beef is typically corn fed choice and prime beef. These two do not typically compete at the store.

Just the right amount of whelm.

Difference in ranching vs cattle flipping.Ranchers can’t make money right now they need to take some land and build apartments for rent. Heck small time cattle farmers around here are selling spring calves and buying new trucks so they don’t pay so many taxes. It amazes me how if prices fall back to a previous record high they suddenly are going bankrupt. But with that said we have had high retail beef prices when cattle was low. First time I can remember that cattle is contributing to prices in the store

Everyone complains about inflation and wants prices to come down but then gripe when the price of their product comes down.

Farmers should not need government help. period! The number 1 subsided industry. We should stop inviting government to the talks! It is the one industry were supply and demand can work.

Take a look at the subsidies already paid out. How much "help" do they need?

I don't know. But I do know that I'm not buying bottle calves for $800 or paying $5 a pound for crappy ground beef. Quit buying beef and watch those prices come down. I'm from a farming family but nobody complains as much as a farmer about everything.

There sure is a lot of hate in here for people that work hard to provide meals lol. Cattle are up they will go back down just like grain. Coming from a fella who has farmed a little and you cant find on the subsidy list. Carry on

The same people who complain about the price of $5 hamburger have no problem paying $8 for a latte.

Now the administration plans to buy beef from Argentina to help lower the prices in the store. That will not help ranchers or the feed lots buying .....$3 plus feeders. That 20 billion is taxpayer money and is used to lower agriculture business revenues, not so business friendly.

What hate?
Beef is high, so is a latte, I don't buy either....doesn't matter WHY it's high , just is...
and farmers do like to complain, so do fisherman, and loggers, etc, but we don't come from a higher calling expecting people to worship us....

Prices are high, anything that lowers them is good, If anyone thinks they should always get, or deserve the highest price you've ever been paid is delusional...

My biggest mistake in this thread was assuming people would read beyond the title.

Oh we read it, just think you expected more sympathy. Kinda remind me of the last oil well we drilled during the boom, landowner was in the doghouse "buy i sure hope this is a good well, my other 6 wells dont produce near what i wish they would."

People who've been raising cattle are exactly like the people who own multiple oil wells. The real reason I'm upset by price manipulation is because I was actually gonna buy the Dallas Cowboys when i sold some steers.
